Coaching Philosophy

With the game being so fast these days, technique is of the utmost importance in the development of soccer players, particularly first touch. If you don’t have good technique you won’t go very far in the game. Therefore my practices are structured to include a lot of work on technique, with each player getting 200- 300 touches of the ball per practice. This is not difficult to achieve. My playing and coaching experience help me get the best out of all players. I demand 100% effort and focus at all practices as well as games. Quickness of movement, making the right decision and awareness linked with speed and good technique are the keys to being a successful soccer player. My practices are challenging yet fun at the same time. My goal is to get the best out of every player on the team and, long term, to help them to acquire scholarships to play soccer at college. I’m also a firm believer in practicing set plays, with each player knowing exactly what his job is. That seems to be a neglected part of the game with a lot of teams. A large percentage of goals are scored or conceded on set plays. Lastly the coach has to create an atmosphere where pride to play for the club will be a primary incentive.
