Brooke Gilbert, Emerald City U17 player, has recently returned from a trip to Spain as a guest player on the U18 National Team. The center defender represented the US against teams from Norway, Sweden, and Germany. In December, Brooke went to Argentina with the U17 National Team winning all four of their games against teams from Chile (U17), Uruguay (U17), and Argentina (U17 & U20). Brooke has made a verbal commitment to play soccer for the University of Texas (D1). She is excited to attend a major university with a top women’s program. Not sure of what she wants to major in, Brooke hopes the big school atmosphere will offer plenty of educational opportunities. Brooke is currently a junior at Glacier Peak High School in Snohomish and has been with Emerald City since U14.

Beka Kurle, a teammate of Brooke’s, has also received some recent national attention having been invited to the National Camp in January. The left midfielder has also been recruited by a number of Division I colleges including California and the University of Washington. Beka has verbally agreed to attend the University of Portland. Not only have the Portland women won a national championship, but Beka was attracted to the small school atmosphere and excellent academic reputation. Beka is interested in sociology, history, and education. She currently attends Kennedy Catholic High School in Burien and has been an Emerald City player since U12.
