ECFC Uniform Kit FAQ
- +I’m new to Emerald City… how do I get my uniform?
- New players/families should talk to their team’s coach or manager (or team uniform coordinator, if there is one), to choose a jersey number. Your coach or manager can tell you what numbers are available in your age group. Once you have a number, provide your team manager the player’s full name and a parent or guardian’s email, and soon you’ll receive an email from Soccer.com with an ordering link. Check your junk folder!
- +How do I find the Emerald City team store?
- If you haven’t received the ordering email or want to go directly to our team store, go to Soccer.com, click on “My Team,” search for Emerald City, then input your player’s name. You can also shop for ECFC fanwear at our team store.
- +What uniform items do I need to order?
- Our ECFC uniform kit consists of eight required items, ordered through Soccer.com:
Two game jerseys (blue and white, personalized), one practice jersey, one pair of blue shorts, two pairs of socks (blue and white), a training jacket and a rain jacket. Additional items, such as a backpack and training pants, are optional.
- +How much does the uniform kit cost?
- The required uniform items add up to around $400, plus tax. If a player is receiving a
scholarship for the Club registration fee, they may also qualify for a uniform scholarship. Contact club registrar Amy Wakeman at amy.wakeman@emeraldcityfc.org to inquire. - +How are the game jerseys personalized?
- The blue home jersey and white away jersey are personalized with players’ last names printed on the back. Before you place your order, please triple-check the spelling of your last name. Alert your team manager if you see a misspelling.
- +My last name is more than 12 characters long… what do I do?
- Unfortunately, the jerseys can only accommodate names that are 12 or fewer characters in length, including spaces. If a player’s last name exceeds 12 characters, you can use a first name, or one last name in the event a player has a two-part last name. If you’d like to use a nickname, you’ll need to check with your coach and the Club’s uniform coordinator. Generally nicknames such as “GOAT or “Messi” won’t work, sorry.
- +What if I didn’t receive the ordering email?
- First, double-check with your team manager that your team’s roster of new players has been sent to the Club uniform coordinator. If yes, check your spam folder for the email from Soccer.com. Or you can find any player’s ordering link from the Soccer.com homepage by selecting “MY TEAM,” searching for “Emerald City,” and then typing in your player’s first or last name.
- +How do I know what size to order?
- There is a semi-helpful sizing video and sizing guide on Soccer.com, or ask families on your team for advice. Unfortunately we do not have samples to try on. Tip: When you are selecting sizes, pay attention to whether you’re ordering youth sizes or adult sizes.
- +I see just one pair of shorts in the uniform kit… is that right?
- Yes. Emerald City players were the same-style blue shorts for both home and away
games, and training. One pair is required as part of the uniform kit; some families order additional pairs. You can also order additional pairs of socks if desired. - +How do I get free shipping on my uniform order from Soccer.com?
- Uniform orders of $125 or more ship free without a special code, but you’ll need make sure that “economy shipping” is selected at checkout to avoid paying for shipping.
- +I ordered my uniform, how long will it take to arrive?
- It’s hard to say how long uniform orders will take, but generally two to four weeks, or possibly a bit longer during peak busy season (summer).
- +My team has a tournament this summer and I don’t think my uniform will arrive in time; what should I do?
- Talk to your coach or team manager, and/or your teammates’ families to see if anyone has an extra set of jerseys from a sibling or from a prior uniform kit that you can borrow. Or if there is a player on the team who won’t be playing in the tournament, you may be able to borrow from them. If these ideas don’t work, you can wear a royal blue t-shirt with your number taped on the back with white duct tape/ white t-shirt with your number taped on the back in blue or green duct tape, and blue shorts.
- +I’m a goalkeeper… what should I order?
- If a player is a full-time goalkeeper, you can order the goalkeeper kit and you do not
need the field player kit. If a player plays on the field some of the time and in goal some of the time, they should order the field player kit and wear a team goalkeeper jersey when they play in goal. Some teams with rotating goalkeepers have the goalkeeper wear their training jersey while in goal, which referees like because each player is always wearing their proper number. Important: Players do not have to order both the field player kit and goalkeeper kit, but they can if they’d like to. - +I’m a goalkeeper, but when I view my ordering link from Soccer.com, it wants me to buy the field player kit.
- If this happens, alert your team manager or the Club’s uniform coordinator directly to have your profile corrected.
- +How should I wash my uniform items?
- Machine-wash your uniform items — inside out to protect the heat-transferred numbers and patches — in warm or cold water, and HANG TO DRY. Do not use hot water; do not use fabric softener; and do not dry in a hot dryer. (Socks are okay to wash and dry with your regular socks.)
- +What do players wear to training?
- Players should wear their practice jerseys and blue shorts to every practice. If you haven’t ordered or received your uniform kit yet, just wear regular soccer clothes until your kit arrives. Note: Some coaches have more specific guidelines for what to wear to training. If so, they’ll let you know.
- +What do players wear for games?
- The blue jersey/blue shorts/blue socks are the home kit; white jersey/blue shorts/white socks are the away kit. Players should *always* bring both jerseys to every game; teams sometimes have to change jerseys in the event of a color conflict with their opponent. (Teams generally don’t change their socks; just the jersey.)
- +I just wore my new uniform for the first (or second) time, and the Emerald City patch already fell off!? What should I do?
- This has happened a few times over the last couple of years: The Emerald City patch or a number has fallen off or started to peel off a uniform element when it’s brand-new or nearly brand-new. If this happens to you, contact Soccer.com customer service and tell them what happened. They will ask for your order number and in the past have they have sent a replacement free of charge. (Be sure your kit items are not going in the dryer.)
- +I’m not new to the club, but I lost my jacket/ my backpack broke/ I spilled barbecue sauce on my white jersey and can’t get it out… what should I do?
- If you need a replacement for something, go to Soccer.com, click on “MY TEAM,”
search for “Emerald City,” then type in your first or last name to find your ordering
profile. Order whatever you need. - +How long will this uniform kit be in use?
- Club players order a new uniform kit every two years. All players will order a new uniform kit in 2026. This kit will be in use for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 seasons.
- +I still have questions... what should I do?
- If you have questions about your Emerald City uniform kit, please contact our Club volunteer uniform coordinator at uniforms@emeraldcityfc.org.
